A Dream Come True

Any one who knows my Sam knows that she is a horse fanatic. She started her obsession about the age of 18 months. She has always loved horses. For her birthday she asked Grandie if she could have a special day with her for her birthday. Of corse Grandie said that would be great. Well the day was originally planned to have a lunch date and shopping but when Grandie found that there was a girl in the singles ward that taught horseback riding she quickly changed the plan. Samantha gets to have 5 hours of riding time with Jessica. Her first lesson was on Wednesday. She even got to miss half of the school day. She spent the first half of the lesson on learning how to groom the horse and how to control the horse and the second half riding. She did extremely well, Jessica said that most kids don't even get to ride their first lesson. She said Sam was a natural (probably due to all her studies on the subject! Every library book know to man on horses!) After it was all done Sam got in the car with a huge smile and said " I smell like horse MMMMM" Only Sam would find the smell appealing!

What a fun birthday celebration! One of my favorite memories is of getting to go to "horse camp" when I was about Sam's age. It was run by some college girls during the summer. They had horses and a swimming pool (which was unheard of in Iowa!) and I was in heaven.
